The summer vacation is ended... sad... I do not want to back to school, indeed, I do not want to do the summer homeworks neither. You probably will never believe what kind of summer homework we have if you never experienced the education system in Taiwan or anywhere in Asia before. This year, I graduated from junior high school and entered the senior high school in the summer. Even before I graduated, I got the summer homework from the new school. How strange, don't you think? And we have to write five book reports, finished one paper of math, and read some English books. Great, it was easy for math and English, but the book reports? They gave a list of books to us, and tell us to choose five from the list. The thinest one on the list is still at least more than 10000 chinese words, the heaviest one is over 100000 words (oh yes, and is written in old Chinese). Each book reports has to be over 1000 words. Guess which book did I choose? The heaviest ones! Including "Hong Lou Meng", "Xi You Ji", "Shui Hu Chuan", "Lao Can You Ji", and the one that has been nominated on 2000 Nobel Prize - "Bei Jin Fa Jaun Si". (Sorry cannot translate them into English. :p) Except the last one, other four are all classical Chinese literatures, which has been existed in the history for over 100 years. I would said they are greater than Shakespeare, even if you just look at the organize of them. Although it is incomparable between two books that basics on different languages.
Anyway, you might think since the books are greater than Shakespeare (in my opinion), it must be much easier to write a report, right? But this is not true. In fact, in the book "Hong Lou Meng", even the smallest character will need at least 500 words to describe. You have to both considered about the historical backgroud and his/her personality, which the foregoing is not been told in the book. I was listening to the music China made for the film "Hong Lou Meng" (using the book "Hong Lou Meng" as the script) while writing the report. You can listen to a part here too. It definitely helped a lot. :)
Argh... time to start working on TQ now. I was just writing this to get into the mood of writing. I have to translate three articles into Chinese in two hours. Bye!
(School tomorrow too, yike!)

Interesting topic. Hey, join the discussion! It is definitely worthwhile.
Ok, ok, ok, I know it might be boring for you. But giving out your comments is a good thing. (Without hurting anyone though.) I even wanted to bring up the history fact of Sino-Japan war there, you know. :p
Anyway, Betcha has a brilliant new layout up, so does Pei. Chrisy edited her layout a little bit, Andy (who I never spoke to before :p) made a great layout using his own photos (no copyright problems at all!), Jesmine moved again before I update my exit page! Obviously I ignore this site for a little bit too long. lol! But guess what? I finished one book report (summer homework!) today. Incredible, I cannot believe I did. It was so hard... the book I chose was "Hong Lou Meng". It will take at least one month to read through it if your Chinese is good enough. The whole book is divided into 120 chapters, each chapter is at least 5000 words, written in old Chinese. Great challenge, huh? And I still got four reports left. Eeeekkkk!

There are always surprises around the world. :) I bought the CD "Bartók: Works for Piano Solo, Volume 7 played by Zoltán Kocsis" with the special price $10 USD in music shop today. Seems like it released earlier in Taiwan than in the US. :) It is definitely the best treasure I have ever found in the CD stores[in Taiwan]!

Jesmine now is living in a new place. Go visite her! I alway forget to renew the url at my "exit" page, and I do NOT think I will do that in these few days, due to some disasters of my dearest computer. I am already lucky enough to get back online in two days. No, I do not want to tell you what happened. Let's just say... becuase my stupidness caused this irretrievable situation of my data. And I truely hope I will not be so stupid, or careless, anymore. Beyond that, I believe the future will be much more better than present. :)
